About Us
Julie O'Brien, MD of Creative Learning Events has been designing and delivering a wide range of enterprise and work related learning events in schools and colleges in the North of England and The Midlands for over twelve years. She has worked with many schools, Education Business Partnerships and Local Education Authorities and has built up a strong reputation for high quality provision.
At Creative Learning Events we recognise that it is essential to equip young people with the key skills and confidence that they will require for their future working lives. We want to help young people think about their future careers, help them become more enterprising and empower them to become effective members of the country's future workforce.
Our business aims are:
- To prepare young people for the world of work, business and enterprise
- To influence the development of key employability skills in young people
- To provide practical skills training for students between the ages of 14 and 19
- To also provide high quality enterprise education for primary schools
- To provide a platform for employers to engage with young people
- To promote interaction between the education system and the world of work in general
- To work in partnership with Education Business Partnerships and other similar organisations to raise the standard of work related learning in schools and colleges
- To work with Secondary, Primary and S.E.N. schools and young people at all levels
- To support the Governments "Every Child Matters" strategy
Our interactive, practical events are focussed on the development of key skills as an accompaniment to formal education. We focus particularly on communication, teamwork, problem solving and time management as the core skills in each of our events. We bring key skills to life, allowing young people to experiment and experience skills in a practical, fun and interesting way. We engage young people and encourage a can do have a go attitude.
The Key Benefits of our events are:
- To introduce students to the concept of key employability skills
- Give students a better understanding of employers’ requirements
- To raise the image and importance of the world of work in the eyes of young people
- To promote interaction between the future workforce and those currently employed in a wide variety of businesses
- To bring people of all ages and backgrounds into schools to serve as role models and sources of information for both students and teachers
- To encourage students to take responsibility, learn and have fun!
- We offer a training ratio of 1:10 in which to ask questions and receive encouragement, guidance and support
- All our events are run by our experienced and full trained staff. We offer schools the choice of whether to approach local employers and invite them to take part, fully briefed and supported by the Creative Learning Events team
- We can work with up to 100 students in a one day event which follows the school times
